You will not lose weight every day.
The number on the scale will fluctuate.
We see this every day with our clients.
It is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING when you put in a lot of work and effort, get excited to step on the scale to see the pay off only to see it stayed the same or it has the AUDACITY to go up.
“What am I doing wrong?!” You say.
Nothing.
It can be really helpful to ask yourself a few questions while you are still working on not letting the scale manipulate you into having a bad day, it can be a tool to know your body better.
Here are some questions you can ask when the scale decides to go up:
- Did I have more sodium last night?
- Did I eat more carbs than I usually do yesterday?
- Did I eat later than I usually do?
- Am I weighing myself at a different time?
- (if you are female) am I ovulating or on my period?
- Am I constipated?
- Am I dehydrated?
- Did I have a really hard workout yesterday?
- Am I constipated?
- Am I dehydrated?
- Did I have a really hard workout yesterday?
And so on…
There are a LIST OF REASONS your weight fluctuates day to day, fat gain is similar to fat loss, it’s gradual.
Start looking at it through the lens of curiosity and you will get to make connections to how your body is affected by your cycle or your actions.
It can be a tool to learn more about yourself instead of a tool to beat yourself up!
